2026-10-28 → 2026-10-29 — LiquidAI's compact on-device LFM3 model led today's download surge on Hugging Face, but three of the next four fastest-growing repos are community "uncensored" or abliterated finetunes of other labs' base models -- including a quantized remix of DeepSeek's own newly popular V4.1 Flash release -- a reminder that much of the open-weight ecosystem's fastest growth now happens one layer removed from the labs that actually trained the underlying models.

Day of 2026-10-29 — OpenAI's newest Terra checkpoint nearly doubled its OpenRouter token volume in a single day just after launch, while MiniMax's M3.1 Flash -- already one of the platform's highest-volume models at over 2 trillion tokens -- tacked on another 899 billion tokens of growth on top of an already enormous base.

Trailing 3 months, as of 2026-10-29 (token-volume share); September 2026 (growth figures) — DeepSeek's low-cost V4.1 Flash line leads Vercel's AI Gateway by raw token volume, but Anthropic still commands outsized spend even after its gateway spend share fell below half for the first time in September -- while TypeSafe AI's new "Jev" model became the fastest-adopted model in AI Gateway history, reaching over a third of paid teams within its first two weeks.
